The new SAS Center isn't just a place for sick animals. It is a total animal health and well-being facility designed for the benefit of the animals in our care, the endangered species they represent, and the people who take part in shaping their future.
Adjacent to the new SAS Center is the
Rising Waters Overnight Camp. With the help of education guides and the resources in the Reinberger Learning Lab, up to 50 campers at a time can wake to the call of the wild and immerse themselves in the world of African Savanna wildlife.
The SAS Center includes a veterinary hospital, quarantine area, Education Pavilion complete with interactive exhibits for all ages, and viewing windows into treatment rooms.
The complex is named in memory of Sarah Allison Steffee, a young woman of deep conviction, high expectations and an abiding respect for all animals.
Our fundraising goal ($4 million in private donations to match the $4 million in Metroparks levy support) has been met, thanks to generous donations from individuals, foundations and corporate friends from the greater Cleveland community and beyond.
Thanks again to everyone who has supported this amazing project!
