Experts from the Zoo and the Northeast Ohio community team up to discuss a variety of topics impacting animal welfare, wildlife conservation and science education both at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and abroad.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo has extraordinary expertise in research, animal welfare and conservation, and many key leadership roles are held by women scientists. During Women’s History Month, hear from our experts on how they use science in their jobs every day and are leading the field in their area of study. Learn from a visiting scientist who paved the way for women conservation leaders in the field.

  • Dr. Kristen Lukas, Director of Conservation & Science at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Chair of AZA Gorilla Species Survival Plan
  • Dr. Tammie Bettinger, senior research biologist for Disney’s Animal Programs and founder of Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education (GRACE) center in Congo
