Zoo Reopening FAQs for Members
Are advance reservations required for members?
YES! All members are required to make a reservation in advance to visit the Zoo. Reservations for visits through July 19 are available now, with additional dates to follow.
Your reservation(s) will be attached to your confirmation email and must be printed or displayed on your mobile device on the day of your visit. Your membership card and photo ID will also be required for entry. All members age two and older require a member reservation, and daily member reservations may only be made for the number of people covered by the membership, including adults, children/grandchildren and guests. (For example, a Family Plus membership covering John and Jane Smith, their three children, and one guest would be able to reserve 6 spots for any day.)
The day I want to attend is sold out for members, but there are still non-member tickets available to purchase. Can I pay for a ticket and then get a refund?
Due to the temporary need for limited capacity, the Zoo has set aside a group of member reservations and a separate set of paid admission tickets to ensure that all members of the community have equal opportunity to visit the Zoo.
If member reservations are sold out for a specific day, please see if another day is available. Members may purchase admission tickets at full price, but they will be non-refundable. We will, however, allow the cost of those tickets to be applied toward your membership renewal or the purchase of a gift membership if purchased by December 31, 2020. Please contact us at (216) 635-3329 or Info@ClevelandZooSociety.org for more information.
What do I need to bring to get into the Zoo?
Members must bring their digital or physical membership card and photo ID in addition to the emailed reservation(s) for every member age two and older visiting the Zoo.
Are masks required to visit the Zoo?
Yes, guests 6 years of age and older are required to wear face coverings during their Zoo visit.
Face coverings or masks are not required for children under 6 years of age, or any individual who cannot wear a face covering because of a medical condition, mental health condition or developmental disability, or who is unable to remove the face covering without assistance, and any individual who should not wear face coverings under the CDC guidance.
Why can’t I just use my membership card to come to the Zoo?
Upon reopening, maximum daily visitor capacity at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will be reduced by approximately 75% and advance reservations will be required for all visitors. To comply with the State of Ohio’s Responsible RestartOhio operating requirements, the Zoo must control capacity to ensure proper physical distancing for the safety of our guests, employees and the animals in our care. Advance registration allows us to do so.
Do I just need one reservation per family to visit the Zoo?
A reservation will be needed for every member of your group age two and older. Member spots may only be reserved for the number of people covered by the membership, including adults, children/grandchildren and guests. (For example, a Family Plus membership covering John and Jane Smith, their three children, and one guest would be able to reserve 6 spots for any day.)
I am a member of The Pride. How do I use my donor admission?
Members of The Pride may follow the same process as general members to make reservations to visit the Zoo. If you need assistance making your donor admission reservation online, please reach out to your assigned Donor Officer, or you may contact us at (216) 635-3329 or Info@ClevelandZooSociety.org.
How many member reservations can I make?
Members may make reservations for one or for multiple days. Since capacity is limited, we ask that members be courteous and only make reservations for dates they plan on attending so that all members have the opportunity to visit. All members age two and older require a reservation, and reservations may only be made for the number of people covered by the membership, including adults, children/grandchildren and guests. (For example, a Family Plus membership covering John and Jane Smith, their three children, and one guest would be able to reserve 6 tickets for any day.)
Can I make a reservation in person?
No. Member reservations may not be made in person. If you are unable to make your member reservation online, please contact us at (216) 635-3329 or Info@ClevelandZooSociety.org.

The Ben Gogolick Giraffe Encounter will also be open for feeding, and the Total Experience gives a $1 discount on leaves purchased to feed the giraffe. Deck access at the Ben Gogolick Giraffe Encounter will be limited to guests hand-feeding giraffes. The KeyBank ZooKey stations will be active, however, we will be unable to distribute ZooKeys to new Total Experience members until we reopen our membership office in the near future.
I have a membership that includes a member T-shirt. How do I get it?
We will be unable to distribute member T-shirts until we reopen our membership office in the near future. All member T-shirt/free gift coupons will be honored through December 2021 to ensure there is plenty of time to pick them up.
Will my membership be extended?
We appreciate your continued support and want to assure you that you will not lose any time on your membership. Extensions apply to all memberships that were active, purchased, or renewed during the Zoo closure (March 16 – June 16). Information on membership extensions has been emailed to all members with a valid email on their account.
