Zoo Reopening FAQs for Members
Are advance reservations required for members?
Effective Saturday, August 1, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will no longer require advance reservations for day visits. Reduced capacity, social distancing measures and frequent cleaning and sanitation will continue for the safety of our guests, staff and animals. Because of the limited capacity, there may be a wait to enter the Zoo during busy days.
Members who choose to visit the Zoo beginning on August 1 will return to the admission process they are used to and may proceed directly to the main gate with their membership card and photo ID.
When should I arrive the day I plan to visit the Zoo?
Members may enter the Zoo at any time between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Please note that the Zoo will close at 4:00 p.m. daily. While we are limiting daily capacity, we anticipate higher attendance early in the day that could result in longer wait times to enter the Zoo. If we reach our overall capacity on busy days, it may also be necessary to queue guests visiting the Zoo.
What do I need to bring to get into the Zoo?
Members must bring their digital or physical membership card and photo ID for admission to the Zoo.
Are masks required to visit the Zoo?
Yes, guests 6 years of age and older are required to wear face coverings during their Zoo visit.
Face coverings or masks are not required for children under 6 years of age, or any individual who cannot wear a face covering because of a medical condition, mental health condition or developmental disability, or who is unable to remove the face covering without assistance, and any individual who should not wear face coverings under the CDC guidance.
I am a member of The Pride. How do I use my donor admission?
Members of The Pride must bring their digital or physical donor admission card and photo ID for admission to the Zoo.
I am a member of a reciprocal zoo. Can I get the reciprocal discount to visit Cleveland Metroparks Zoo?
Not at this time. Reciprocal benefits have been suspended for the time being and will be reevaluated in the near future.
I am a member of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Can I get the reciprocal discount to visit other participating zoos and aquariums?
Reciprocal benefits have been suspended for the time being by many zoos and aquariums. Please contact your destination zoo or aquarium for more information.
Can I become a member or renew my membership in person?
Yes. Membership staff is available at the Zoo’s box office to assist new and renewing members. However, to minimize contact, we encourage joining or renewing online at ClevelandZooSociety.org/Membership or by mail.
I have the Babysitter Option. Can my babysitter bring my children to the Zoo?
Yes. The babysitter should bring the digital or physical membership card indicating the Babysitter Option.
I have the Total Experience Option on my membership. What attractions will be available?
The Circle of Wildlife Carousel, Boomerang Train and 4D Theater are operating with 50% capacity, and your Total Experience Option may be used for free admission to those attractions. The Ben Gogolick Giraffe Encounter is open for feeding, and the Total Experience gives a $1 discount on leaves purchased to feed the giraffe. Deck access at the Ben Gogolick Giraffe Encounter is limited to guests hand-feeding giraffes. The KeyBank ZooKey stations are also active. Attractions and experiences are available April 1st through the first week of November and are subject to availability based on seasonality, weather, and the animals' willingness to participate.
I have a membership that includes a member T-shirt. How do I get it?
Please bring your t-shirt coupon to the Membership Services window at the Box Office during the Box Office open hours of 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Once you take a shirt, you may not exchange it for a different size.
Was my membership be extended?
We appreciate your continued support and want to assure you that you did not lose any time on your membership. Extensions applied to all memberships that were active, purchased, or renewed during the Zoo closure (March 16 – June 16). Information on membership extensions has been emailed to all members with a valid email on their account.
I bought ticket(s) to the Zoo. How can I apply them to a membership?
