Tails & Cocktails: Gut Reaction

Join us to kick off the Tails & Cocktails Speaker Series, where guests will hear experts from the Zoo and the Northeast Ohio community discussing a variety of topics impacting health and welfare, wildlife conservation and science education.

What we eat – and how it’s processed during digestion – has an impact on health. Learn how Zoo scientists are working with animal diets and studying the bacterial fermentation process to improve animal welfare and health, and how we can apply these findings to human health.

Speakers: Gail Cresci, PhD, RD, digestive disease and nutrition specialist with Cleveland Clinic’s Pediatric and Adult department’s of gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition and department of inflammation & immunity; Andrew Loudon, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Science Research Fellow; Dr. Pam Dennis, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo epidemiologist; enjoy fermented food samplings and recipes from Spice Kitchen + Bar and samples of Terrestrial Brewing’s Conservation Series beer, Probiotic Warrior.

  • All Zoo members qualify for discounted tickets ($10) to the Tails & Cocktails Speaker Series.
  • General admission tickets are $15.
  • Members and donors at certain ZooKeepers Circle or Adopt an Animal levels will receive complimentary tickets to the series.
