Truth or Tail: Do reindeer actually go, "click, click, click"?

We’ve all heard the famous holiday song, “….up on the housetop click, click, click, down through the chimney with good Saint Nick.” But did you know that Santa’s reindeer do in fact make a clicking noise when they walk? Many people believe it to be caused by their hooves, but that is not the case. The noise is caused by tendons snapping over sesamoid bones in their feet, making the famous clicking noise with each step. Experts believe that the clicking helps the members of a herd stay in contact, especially in snowstorms. Come see for yourself this winter and visit the reindeer up at Wilderness Trek!
