We celebrated Earth Day 2022 by teaming up with the community to keep thousands of electronics out of landfills!
We’re grateful to data protection company MCPc for sponsoring our Earth Day E-Recycling event last month at the Zoo. Many thanks to Cleveland Metropolitan School District students for volunteering to make this event successful.
Willy the elephant weighs 14,000 lbs.
Donations helped us recycle MORE than the weight of a bull African elephant!
Twenty-six pallets of electronics were collected — that's more than 16,000 lbs. of devices.
Electronics recycling diverts toxic materials from landfills and supports zero landfill initiatives.
Recycling unused electronic devices enables us to recover valuable metals and materials including copper, aluminum, titanium, gold, and silver, which can be reclaimed and reused in new electronic devices. E-recycling saves natural resources, reduces pollution, conserves landfill space, and creates jobs, including right here in Cleveland!
If you missed the Earth Day E-Recycling event and have electronics to donate, we’ll be teaming up with MCPc later in the year for another e-recycling opportunity. Stay tuned!
