We recently announced a $750,000 grant from the PNC Foundation that will make possible Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s first indoor play space. The PNC Adventure Playspace will elevate the guest experience in Primate Forest and make it a favorite destination for families year-round.

A large, sculptural orangutan serves as the focal point of the playspace – and an inventive climbing structure.
This large, indoor playspace on the second level of Primate Forest will feature a naturalistic design that draws inspiration from the facility’s focus on forests as well as the orangutans that call it home. The space will look out over the outdoor orangutan habitat and Gorilla Forest, so as children play they may see the great apes moving and exercising as well! The PNC Adventure Playspace will be a must-visit destination for families – and a tremendous resource during the colder months.

Organic play features such as tall, tree-like towers, bamboo-inspired poles, and elevated rope bridges will invite climbing, balancing, and imaginative exploration.

The ground surface is designed with flowing shapes in greens and blues, suggesting water and forest understory while providing a safe, engaging play environment.

Kids can look out the two-story windows to see outside of the Zoo and into the Gorilla Forest and the outdoor orangutan yard.

Visually interesting hanging ceiling panels will minimize noise, and ample, ADA-accessible seating areas will allow families to relax and enjoy the space.
Thank you to PNC for making this year-round playspace possible.
