The primary goal of the Asian Turtle Program (ATP) is to safeguard globally threatened tortoise and freshwater turtle species in Indochina. Working in collaboration with Indo-Myanmar Conservation and Education for Nature - Vietnam (ENV), the ATP implements strategic interventions that directly contribute to the conservation of Asian turtles in the region.

Addressing turtle trade:
ATP encourages and facilitates the reporting of illegal activity, supports law enforcement confiscation efforts and runs turtle conservation centers that care for and manage confiscated turtles.
Building awareness:
Community awareness events and activities in Vietnam have engaged more than 800 village members and 4,900 students. Hundreds of young men have participated in turtle-focused community football matches.
Protecting turtles:
Seizures, confiscations and voluntary surrenders of protected tortoises and freshwater turtles have significantly increased. ATP now receives frequent reports from local people regarding illegally obtained and held animals and animals offered for sale.
