The Zoo’s animal care program focuses on all dimensions of exceptional care — from the nutrient-dense foods the animals eat, to thoughtful habitat elements and enrichment opportunities, to innovative research that informs best-in-class management practices. The commitment to animal health at both the individual and population level goes beyond the basics of biological and ecological needs, addressing myriad other factors including stress reduction, gut health, and group dynamics.
