The Zoo comes to life in new ways as the cooler seasons arrive. Many animals become more active, the crowds thin out, and fall foliage provides a stunning backdrop for a memorable adventure.

Wear an extra layer and explore somewhere you haven’t visited in a while this fall and winter. Here are a few of our team’s favorite locations with indoor access:

Primate, Cat & Aquatics

Quick-moving monkeys and lemurs, slow lorises and sloths, a brilliant variety of fish, and of course, the very popular gorilla troop - hop on the tram near the lion habitat and head up the hill to "PC&A". There is plenty to explore here, and it's easy to lose track of time observing the gorilla troop dynamics.

African Elephant Crossing

The impressive, indoor viewing area of this habitat welcomes visitors to watch the animal care team as they work with the elephants - and learn more about this iconic species.

Wolf Lodge

Home to the wolf pack, beavers, bald eagle and other native species, this charming space is temperature controlled and provides a fantastic launching point to the rest of Wilderness Trek, where you'll find most of the Zoo's colder weather animals including snow leopards, red pandas, takin, bison, bears, and Amur tigers.
