Dawn’s love of wildlife and science make her a great fit for the Zoo Society. With a degree in Biology, she initially wanted to pursue a career in the veterinary field before discovering she wasn’t into the lab work. She got her professional start collecting data on wildlife around wind farms to help protect bat and bird populations, and joined the CZS Membership team in 2022 after learning of an opportunity through a friend.
Favorite animal: foxes, bats, and dwarf crocodile
Favorite spot at the Zoo: African Elephant Crossing – the rear viewing area on the path to Australian Adventure
Dream wildlife travel destination: Amazon Rainforest to see the birds
A longtime zoo-goer who grew up visiting the Columbus Zoo and even got married there, Dawn enjoys supporting the Zoo and Zoo Society’s mission with her work and being here each day. Loving where she works – and the people she works with – is a wonderful and sometimes rare thing, and Dawn is grateful to check both boxes in her role.
Find Dawn hiking and checking birds off her birding “life list” in her free time, caring for her pets (dog, bearded dragon, and ball python!), and embarking on Dungeons and Dragons adventures with her husband.
