Terrestrial Brewing introduces Conservation Series beer to support wildlife around the world
Posted: February 08, 2019
Launching in February, Terrestrial Brewing will create limited-edition, small batch Conservation Series beers. A portion of sales will be donated to the Cleveland Zoological Society, the nonprofit partner of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. The Zoo Society provides $500,000 annually to the Zoo’s Future for Wildlife global conservation programs.
For more than two decades, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo has been a national leader in international conservation and was among the first Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredited institutions to establish a field conservation program. Cleveland donors are key to catalyzing these vital efforts. Since 1998, Zoo Society donors have provided $7.5 million to wildlife conservation efforts, and the work is far from over.
“We hope the Conservation Series will be a fun way to raise awareness and engage our customers about our dedication to helping our world and our wildlife, a commitment that is central to Terrestrial’s mission,” said Ryan Bennet, Co-Founder of Terrestrial Brewing. “Each beer will be inspired by a species or the part of the world where that species live, raising awareness of how we can help these iconic animals.”
Co-Founder and brewmaster Ralph Sgro will create beers to celebrate World Giraffe Day, Earth Day, World Gorilla Day and more. Beer will be sold on tap at Terrestrial Brewing in Cleveland’s Battery Park neighborhood, throughout the year as well as at several special events at Terrestrial and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
A kick-off release party is planned for February 26 at Terrestrial Brewing. The public can taste the first Conservation Series brew, learn about conservation efforts from Zoo Society and Zoo experts and mingle with members of the Zoo Society’s young professional membership board, The Herd.
“The Zoo Society has been raising money to support conservation work for 20 years, and the need to secure a future for animals in the wild grows more urgent every day,” said Sarah Crupi, Zoo Society Interim Executive Director. “We are thrilled to work with Ryan, Ralph and their team to raise awareness of these efforts in Cleveland.”
Founded in 1957, the Cleveland Zoological Society and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo share a joint mission: We create compelling experiences that connect people with wildlife and inspire personal responsibility for conserving the natural world. The Zoo Society is committed to raising public awareness of the Zoo as a community priority and civic asset, securing private support for the Zoo and its programs, and giving visitors, members and donors great value for their investment.
