Kim came to the Zoo as a volunteer alongside her mom in 1998, secured a seasonal job in Membership later that year, and never left. She loves the animals, the people, and the fact that she can walk out the door and see something different every day.
Favorite animal: Orangutans
Favorite spot at the zoo: Wilderness Trek
Dream wildlife travel destination: Australia
Before finding her place at the Zoo Society, Kim attended medical secretary school and considered becoming a coroner. While she’s happy that her career led her to the Zoo instead, she is still fascinated by forensic and investigative science, and she uses her interest in piecing a puzzle together to navigate our complex donor database and dig into new challenges: “There is always something going on here where you have to think outside the box and figure it out,” she said.
Kim enjoys escaping into a good book, and you can find her throwing darts, bowling, or watching movies in her free time. She loves Disney World, and between trips to her happy place she has a (modest) Mickey Mouse collection to keep her company.
