Carly has backpacked Southeast Asia, hitchhiked to Alaska, managed children’s theater productions in New Zealand, taught English in South Korea and now resides in Shaker Heights with her husband and two girls. Carly’s inherent curiosity and depth of life experiences make her an empathetic, engaged, and spirited champion of the Zoo. She brings her sense of adventure to golf cart tours and loves connecting with donors as they explore new aspects of the Zoo.
Favorite animal: Rhinos and gorillas
Favorite spot at the Zoo: Daniel Maltz Rhino Reserve viewing deck

After traveling to many corners of the globe, Carly found a deep sense of community in Cleveland. She credits joining the Zoo Society as ‘the best career decision she ever made.’ With two advanced degrees in Education and Theater, along with a background in leadership roles in arts education nonprofits, Carly is passionate about the Zoo's role in shaping and enriching the local community, seeing it as an essential part of Northeast Ohio’s story.
Carly considers herself a “playground connoisseur” - seriously, ask her for recommendations. She still loves to travel and finds adventure in books between trips. She’s a dedicated mom and a fascinating conversation partner.
