A background in nonprofit work and the arts has solidified Kristen’s belief in the power of storytelling to show the impact philanthropy can have. An Ohio native, she is a big fan of all Northeast Ohio has to offer and values the opportunity to play a role in its prosperous future through fundraising.
Favorite animal: Otters
Favorite spot at the Zoo: Primate, Cat and Aquatics
Dream wildlife travel destination: Costa Rica
After earning a bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University and a master’s from Cleveland State University, Kristen spent a few years in Los Angeles where she worked in arts fundraising - and did improv with Second City. She continued to work in the arts when she returned to Cleveland, satisfying her desire to help people and thriving in a creative environment where “everyone was truly invested in what they were doing.” Being an actor and filmmaker herself didn’t hurt, either – she continues to perform and create in her free time today.
Kristen joined the Zoo Society in 2024, thrilled to join a woman-led organization and eager to advance the Zoo’s mission. She is no stranger to the Zoo as a longtime member who frequently visits with her family. She is still involved in the local arts community as well, making comedic short films with her husband and participating in community-centric activities with her daughter.
