Michael's friendly vibe and desire to help others makes him a total gem of our Membership team, and while he could never see himself becoming a veterinarian, his fascination with medicine and love of animals feed his interest in the Zoo’s efforts in veterinary care.
Favorite animal: Otters and owls
Favorite spot at the Zoo: "African Elephant Crossing, but I like it all."
Dream wildlife travel destination: the Amazon and Antarctica
Michael was taking a gap year after earning his B.A. in Health Science when a friend approached him about an opening on the Zoo Society team. He took the job ‘sort of on a whim,’ and liked it so much that he has been on the team ever since. His original plan to pursue a Physician Assistant program was driven by a love of helping people – a trait that makes him a wonderful resource for the Zoo Society’s members and donors.
He loves animals and is fascinated by medicine, so learning about the Zoo’s efforts in animal and veterinary care is a perk of the job for Michael. He is also a fan of the Zoo Society’s travel program, which invites people to visit important conservation areas in person and see the value of their protection. Here at the Zoo, Michael likes to share the Zoo’s conservation programs with members and visitors to help raise awareness and support.
You can usually find Michael gaming, reading manga, or watching sports in his free time, but he’s always down to try something new and fun. His next personal project may be learning how to build his own gaming computer.
