Tips and Tricks for Date Night at the ZOOvies 2019
Congrats, you’ve got a ticket to our favorite (not to mention sold out) date night of the summer! Get ready to explore parts of the Zoo before settling down to watch The Goonies in the Zoo's Savanna Theater. Need help planning your night out? We can get you started.
What time does Date Night at the ZOOvies presented by Vitamix start?
Gates open at 7 p.m. Guests will not be permitted into the Zoo before 7 p.m. Make sure you have your tickets printed out or accessible on your phone.
What should I bring?
First, bring your ID. ZOOvies is a 21 and older event and all guests will be carded at the gate. Also, don’t forget a blanket or folding chair. The amphitheater does have some seats, first-come, first-served.
Will I see animals?
Yes! From 7 to 8:30 p.m., feel free to stroll through Australian Adventure and the African Savanna. (Other areas of the Zoo will be closed.)
Is there food and drink?
Food and drinks are included with your ticket and will be served from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. before the movie begins. Visit the Palava Hut for samples from Vitamix, appetizers by Driftwood Catering and the bars will be serving beer from Great Lakes Brewing Company, wine, soda and water.
When does the movie start?
The Goonies begins at 8:30 p.m. in the Savanna Theater. Other areas of the Zoo will close at that time. During the movie, enjoy popcorn, candy, beer, wine and soft drinks – all included with your ticket!
- ZOOvies is for those 21 or older. Bring your ID.
- If it stays humid and buggy, don’t fret – we have bug spray you are welcome to use.
- The closest bathroom during the movie is next to the Nursing Station in the Zoo’s Welcome Plaza.
- Please be responsible and designate a driver, take an Uber or Lyft.
See you on September 6!
